Renault Group, a major player in the automotive industry, and Vitesco Technologies, a leading international manufacturer in advanced powertrain technology and electrification solutions, today announced the signing of a strategic partnership agreement to jointly develop and manufacture power electronics in One Box for electric and hybrid powertrains. aggregates.

Under this agreement, the two partners will join forces by providing their know-how and experience for the joint development unique concept of power electronics on the market. The Renault Group will bring its expertise in electric and hybrid vehicles, while Vitesco Technologies will bring its “best-in-class” technologies and processes.

The goal is to create an important electronic unit that combines all the components in one package: a DC/DC converter.oneon-board charger OBC2 and inverter3. The Renault Group and Vitesco Technologies teams will define the products and assembly processes for this “one box”, integrating the latest cutting-edge technologies to ensure the best level of competitiveness in terms of profitability and cost.

This one-box concept will also allow gain in compactness unpublished (- 45% by volume) and mass to develop future Renault vehicles, in particular to increase passenger space and comfort. The configurations and assembly of various major components will be adapted to the types of electric and hybrid engines. The platform development teams will be primarily based in Toulouse.

In the development of this “One Box” it is planned to equip electric and hybrid vehicles in Renault’s main range of high-voltage engines from 2026, with the aim of the Renault Group to eventually assemble this production at its industrial sites in France for 100% electric vehicles. With this new partnership, the Renault Group is expanding its control of the electrical value chain by integrating this unique all-in-one power electronics system developed with the company.

As part of this partnership, the Renault Group will simultaneously award Vitesco Technologies a multi-year contract to supply power electronics for Renault hybrid vehicles. In addition, from 2025, Vitesco Technologies will supply the Renault Group with a “High Voltage Box” that will combine a DC-to-DC converter and a battery electric vehicle charger.
