Kinetic Technologies Announces Closing of Asset Acquisition Pursuant to Gain Semiconductor Asset Purchase Agreement

The assets include innovative products in motor and dynamic drive technology, intellectual property and over 20 years of know-how.

SAN JOSE, CA June 15, 2022–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Kinetic Technologies, a high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductor company specializing in power management and protection solutions for consumer, communications, industrial, energy, automotive and business, today announced that that the Company has completed the acquisition of certain assets pursuant to an asset purchase agreement with Gain Semiconductor Incorporated. The acquisition was completed on May 6, 2022. The terms of the asset deal include the transfer of intellectual property consisting of patents, copyrights and industry knowledge, in addition to engine management.

By acquiring Gain’s patented Puresine™ pure sine driver technology, Kinetic Technologies has a unique opportunity to bring superior motor and motion control to the market. This technology transforms standard 3-wire motor control and advanced 6-wire motor control technology into a new class of motor control solutions, maximizing energy efficiency. Higher efficiency reduces the motor power required for operation, allowing the motor to be designed smaller and lighter.

“Improving the electrical efficiency of engine management paints a new picture to provide a greener environment for our future. With the proven manufacturing capabilities and engineering excellence of Kinetic Technologies, we believe our motor control technology can now advance to the next stage in manufacturing and advanced product development,” said Jeff Gray, CEO of Motor Control at Kinetic Technologies and former CEO of Gain Semiconductor.

“The electronic engine control space allows Kinetic Technologies to further expand its potential home appliance, automotive and industrial markets. The introduction of motor control products will diversify our offerings and expand our portfolio with commercially synergistic products. We believe this transaction will allow us to enter new markets, work with new customers and expand our business with our existing customers through the sale of additional high performance products,” said Kin Shum, CEO of Kinetic Technologies.
