Disturbed landscapes, technologies of gigantism: words and faces

Disorganized landscape.jpg

As far as the eye can see, gigantic works are being carried out around and south of Moulin, the road infrastructure, in particular, with the laying of the N79 motorway between Montmaro and Macon, disturbing the surrounding landscape for tens of square kilometers. .

And it is all the more impressive when you cross this zone of gigantic works around Moulin, coming from Montlucon and heading towards Autun, under a summer sky of total and dazzling blue, with temperatures over 35 degrees (50 in the sun)…

The machines used for earthworks, materials and soil transport are as huge as those used in Alberta, Canada, to extract oil sands.

In France, in all regions, except for the mountainous regions and narrow valleys, this is part of the territories that have existed for about thirty years, occupied by road infrastructure, giant roundabouts, motorway exits and intersections, peripheral industrial and commercial areas around large cities with kilometers of paved car park surfaces etc.

And everywhere in the world, on all continents, where megacities are expanding and growing, gigantic construction projects, multi-lane and superimposed transport infrastructures are opening and multiplying; and all these large metropolitan areas in Asia, Africa, America, Europe, have hundreds of houses and apartment buildings with several tens of floors …

All modern technologies of gigantism with mechanisms, machines used for construction work, allowing to accelerate in a minimum implementation time, new infrastructure and new buildings.

One can imagine huge quantities, amounting to hundreds of millions of tons, of sand, gravel, water, earth, crushed stone, boulders, metals (steel, copper, aluminum, zinc, etc. composite materials … It is necessary to build, build more and more … Which it is necessary to find in the ground, in cellars, by the seas and oceans (sand), in quarries, in the places of occurrence of all these materials, all the operational resources of the Earth, inevitably limited – but considered “inexhaustible” due to new deposits, in particular underwater, open or even below newly mined land, rich in minerals, gas, crude oil… Not to mention forests for timber (or felling for growing soybeans, corn, in large deforested areas)…

This universal technological gigantism all over the Earth is completely incompatible with what is known as “sustainable development, economic growth while respecting the natural environment” or with the so-called adaptability to climate and environmental change …

Belief in such a sustainable and adapted development is an aberration, nonsense, it is the current sign of fashion and thought, a civilization that is maintained through “some adaptation efforts and “ecological technological innovations” in order to preserve the consumer lifestyle, ease, comfort, leisure, everything it is in the “new intelligence” against the backdrop of winning and energy generating companies and “startup” jobs…

I must say that all these technological innovations in the sense of adapting to environmental changes, in fact, give rise to human activity that puts pressure on the environment, on resources; at least the achievements made thanks to more and more powerful devices, machines, robots, thanks to the technology of gigantism. Example among others: air conditioning of the Louvre, museums, public buildings in Paris using water from the Seine that circulates in circuits in the basement, circuits connected to giant machines (until then the cost of these air conditioning units is amortized, a lot of water will pass under the bridges of the Seine! )…

Human civilization is no more and no less in the process of deliberate suicide in the space of two or three generations, against the backdrop of an accelerated and rapid disappearance of living species, animals, birds, insects … the gentle sinking of a cruise ship, where we dance, where we play, where we eat … To the whole bottom, then the decks above, we collect water …
