Let’s not hide behind our little finger…

There will be no new world revolution.

We will have to learn how to deal with the climate crisis in the capitalist system.

And if we must continue to produce and strive for the greatest possible growth…

it cannot be based on the same principles as in the industrial age (fossil fuels, disposables, global supply chains…).

It is necessary to derive new practices on the same economic matrix. And these practices will be born thanks to technology.

Let’s take a look at 4 major innovations together to keep humanity growing without destroying the environment.

#1 – Industrial 3D Printing (3DI)

According to the latest ARK Invest 2022 report, industrial 3D printing, or 3DI, will be the fastest growing technology sector in the next 10 years.with speed 60% annual growth…until 2030.

it’s 4th the industrial revolution that is unfolding before our eyes. And 3DI has nothing to do with “mainstream” 3D printing. which allows you to print miniatures with plastic molding.

Here it is about printing:

– at home ;

– food ;

– human organs and custom-made prostheses;

– aviation and rocket reactors.

3DI revolutionizes production concept.

These are the latest advances in robotics, artificial intelligence and materials science that allow us to produce almost anything, at a lower cost, anywhere in the world.

However, it is in this last point that 3DI can help us. drastically limit our impact on the environment…

Transport presents a quarter of global CO2 emissions (24.4%). A significant part of this 24% is in the transportation of goods and supply chains … in a cartoonish way, this is the import of products. Made in China and the spouses who guide us.

Producing where you consume, with machines that make production easier and require fewer materials, is the promise of industrial 3D printing.

#2 – 100% electric, 100% autonomous car parks

According to the World Bank, 56% of men live in cities (and continues to grow).

Their daily range rarely exceeds 10-20 km.

Passing private car 90-95% of their time in a stationary state.

These 3 figures draw a paradox: as long as human activity is concentrated in the city, cities are becoming more and more poisoned by traffic jams and all these cars pass stopped most of the time

The model of an individual car is preserved and continues to poison the air. (except for the cost).

However, a new pattern is emerging. It combines the rapid, government-backed development of electric vehicles, the explosion of AI, and by extension, autonomous vehicles. (Pure: car that drives itselfunmanned).

This triple convergence paves the way for cities where you no longer need a car in your name for your travels. All you have to do is indicate when you need to be picked up so that autonomous car take care of getting you to work, taking you home and making one-off trips on request.

Time leftit will be used in exactly the same way by other users in other time slots.… and it will also be able to recharge – because these fleets of autonomous vehicles will, of course, be all-electric.

In the same timeAI that links all these fleets will help avoid traffic jams by collecting and processing all relevant traffic information in real time…

In particular, this new model will allow to produce less, pollute less, optimize traffic and save money for individuals.

Another possible model: this is your car (if you want to have one) but you provide it to the fleet when you don’t need it… and we pay you for it.

#3 – Nuclear Fusion: Energy (nearly) unlimited, decarburized

At nuclear power plants we practice nuclear fission. It involves breaking the atomic nucleus to produce two lighter ones and capturing the energy released by fission.

merger like the opposite : it is about combining two light atomic nuclei to obtain a heavy one and capture the energy produced during fusion.

Nuclear fusion has several advantages over fission.

Much higher energy production : with equal mass, nuclear fusion gives 4 times more energy than fission.

– Inexhaustible resources : fusion requires deuterium and tritium, which are present on Earth in almost unlimited quantities.

– No CO2 emissionsthe main by-product of fusion is helium

– No long-lived highly radioactive waste A: Materials can be recycled or reused for 100 years, no waste to keep forever…

No risk of escalation in armament A: Fusion does not use uranium or plutonium, we cannot produce nuclear weapons based on civilian applications of fusion.

– No risk of core meltdown : nuclear fusion does not open the door to risks like Fukushima, because at the slightest disturbance, the plasma cools down in a few seconds. No chain reaction to fear

Thus, thermonuclear fusion is safer, more economical, more productive than fission … And it in no way opens up a new arms race.

I know that some people have problems with nuclear energy, but you must remember that fusion is infinitely less dangerous than fissionand that this will lay the foundations for a world where energy abundant as well as decarburized – however, an abundance of energy is one of the conditions indispensable condition for the maintenance of peace.

It will take us a few more years to master nuclear fusion and deploy it to power our networks… But research continues, and projects such as the ITER reactor are installed in the south of France.

#4 – Plastic End

plastic pollution is one of the worst disasters for the planet… and for humanity: we ingest 5 g of plastic every week, credit card equivalent – in our water, our food, the air we breathe…
